Creating a development plan is an essential duty of the Executive Director of any charitable organization. The primary responsibility for ensuring that a charity has sufficient money to operate falls on the Board. To help the Board meet this goal, the Executive Director must create a development plan or road map of how the organization will accomplish these funding goals. Any organization, for profit or nonprofit, can survive only if it knows the source of its income and the manner in which its income will be maintained.
